How we work

discoverbudapest.art is an independent, non-profit guide and archive. It is not an advertising platform: no gallery pays to be listed, and no venue is ranked for money. We list every institution and gallery alike, regardless of who runs it.

Who writes it

The editorial team is run by ARTAVIZO (Vince Baráth and Eszter Sághi), with contributions from gallerists, curators and artists. Every article carries a byline; guest authors are marked. The project is being organised as an association; representatives of member galleries will sit on the editorial board.

Where the data comes from

From three sources: public data (Wikidata, the galleries' and institutions' own websites, official award and scholarship lists), editorial verification, and the galleries themselves, who confirm their details when they join. Every artist record shows its sources with retrieval dates. Opening hours are published only after confirmation. What we don't know, we say (“no verified data”) – we don't guess.

What we publish and what we don't

  • We publish: facts (address, hours, exhibitions, artists), editorial profiles and recommendations, data-based analysis.
  • We don't publish: contact data (that stays in our internal system), prices, unverified claims, paid content.
  • Artwork photos only with the rights holder's permission or under a free licence, always credited and licensed.

How we use AI

We use it for: assembling fact drafts from the database and public sources, translation suggestions, data cleaning. We don't use it for: inventing facts. Every published text is read, checked and signed by a person – responsibility rests with the author. No AI-generated text goes live without human review.

Corrections and takedowns

Found an error, or want your own data corrected, extended or removed? Write to hello@artavizo.com – we fix factual errors within 2 working days and mark the update on the article.
