About
A region's art deserves a memory.
Central and Eastern Europe produces remarkable contemporary art — and loses track of it remarkably fast. Exhibitions close, project spaces move, websites lapse. What was shown, where, by whom: too much of it survives only in private memories.
Artelix exists to change that. It is a searchable, interlinked, editorially reviewed archive of the region's artworks, artists and art spaces — built on a data model designed from day one for many cities, many countries and many languages. Every entry is connected: an artwork leads to its artist, the artist to their spaces and exhibitions, the space to its city and scene.
The archive opened with Budapest — documented street by street by our editorial team — and grows city by city. Photographs are credited and licensed; contributions from the community pass editorial review before publication. Slow, careful, permanent.

Curators and researchers mapping the region. Collectors following artists across borders. Galleries who want their programme to be findable years from now. And anyone standing in front of an artwork, wondering what it is — and wanting it to be remembered.
